Juniors

During the 2009/10 season, and again during the 2010/11 season a series of junior matches was also held on Monday evenings during late July and throughout August and further matches were held during the autumn half-term week. It is hoped that the Association will be able to continue to run such events during the coming years.

All Junior matches and any other events will be advertised in local tackle shops, in the local press and in the annual Member's Newsletter. The Junior Official is Mrs. C. Jones, Tel. No. 07824998269


Please Note: Juniors are only allowed to fish Rookery Pool when accompanied by a senior or senior citizen member of the Association. Juniors are not permitted to night fish, whether accompanied or not, and are not allowed on any Association water after dark. The only exceptions are at Eyres Pit and Big Billinge. Please refer to general Rule 5.

Junior Matches

The Association runs a series of junior matches held on consecutive Saturdays during late July and throughout August. These matches are for the benefit of all junior anglers and non members, as well as junior members of the Association, are welcome to take part.

Eligibility

  1. Persons must be aged 17 or under on April 1st In order to be eligible to take part.
  2. Contestants are divided into two categories according to their age (under 14's / over 14's).

Sponsorship & Prizes

The Junior Festival has been very well supported in recent years, both by local businesses and by the tackle trade. This has assisted the Association in being able to award prizes to all participants.

The first match is a contest for the Bill Buckley Trophy. The next three matches are fished as ‘The Junior Festival’ series with the overall winner (based upon aggregate scores) being awarded the Sam Hamlett Trophy. This is followed by a contest for the Bob Hunt Memorial Trophy. The final match is a contest for the Graham Evans Kitchens & Bathrooms Trophy.
