Details
Petty Pool is considered by many to be the site of most natural
beauty in Cheshire. Northwich AA lease the pool, an area of some 12 acres
from the owner Lord Delamere.
Petty Pool and the surrounding lands have been designated "a
Site of Scientific Interest" by English Heritage and therefore it
is essential that no litter is left or that any form of cutting or damage
to the vegetation takes place and that all anglers must keep to the designated
paths. During the 1993 close season the Association constructed 13 two
man fishing platforms to ensure that no damage was caused to the banks
of the pool. To limit damage to the paths, which become very boggy in
wet weather. Since those earlier days, a permanent footpath of wood and
wire construction has been set up. This make access very easy, although
the edges are still slippy in the wet season.
Petty Pool is noted for its variety of wild life and its great
natural beauty and to anglers its large shoals of big bream and large
Carp. It is regularly quoted in the angling press when showing large bream
as "a secret Cheshire mere". The average depth of the Pool is 9 feet.
There are also many Pike present.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the delicate relations with the owners of
the Keepers cottage to the left of the fishing platforms it is essential
that no Association member trespass outside the Northwich AA Leased land.
Please note that the drive to the lake is often used as a play area by
local children. Please drive carefully and watch out for kids.
Specific Rules

There is no Night Fishing
on this venue whatsoever.

Fishing is allowed from
0500 hours to 2200 hours ONLY.

Any member willing to fish
at 0500 hours will enter the draw system. see

There is a publicity ban
for Petty pool catches.

Anglers MUST NOT
arrive in the Car Park before 0430 hours and must have vacated the Car
Park by 2230 hours at the latest)

The Gate at the Monkey
Lodge must be kept padlocked shut at all times unless it has been
padlocked in the open position by the owners of Keepers Cottage.

The Car Park Gate must be
kept padlocked shut at all times.

This water is restricted to
Members of Northwich A. A. ONLY. Guests and Non Members are not
permitted.

Northwich A. A. have the
exclusive fishing rights to the whole of Petty Pool.

Members can only fish from
the 13 stages provided. There is no fishing from any other area of this
pool by either Members or Non Members.

Wandering around or camping
in the adjacent woodland next to the Stages is not permitted.

There is no close season on Petty Pool
(although the water is open in May to work party members ONLY)
-
Keepnets are not allowed between March 15th
and June 15th
